AFL Dollars For Kimberley Football
Many mentions of dollars required to be injected into Kimberley Football. With the continuing emmergence of talent from Kimberley will the money that is spent overseas be injected into Australian talent? I am sure CEO Graham Gordon could do with a full time assistant come promotions officer, come whatever else. Will need paid organiser for a reserves competition in WKFL to accomodate up and coming players and players not getting a run in the league. There is a push from some bum sitters to have only an elite competition here but at this level we should be all about participation.
Noticed that a shire election is due but it is a pity WKFL members and supporters could not have a shot at some of the councillors who have sat on council for many years and done nothing for sport in this town. Some may mention BRACS but I would have preferred lights on Haynes oval. They may mention the pavillion at Haynes Oval but at that cost for a change room most would still change behind vehicles and would prefer a proper club complex set up (which is what most people thought was happening) The fence on Haynes has been down about 15 years or so and still not replaced.
Do not vote for councillors who do not support sport strongly in Broome

Re: AFL Dollars For Kimberley Football
Claremont Football Club take note, you have received the benefit of Kimberley draftees enough!!! How about injecting some serious dollars into the West Kimberley, given the draftees of recent years and the prospect of several more this year.
You can't continue to reap the benefits of draftees with the sole contribution being the Tiger Cubs camp, support for the Kimberley Spirit and offers of support to Kimberley house which remain unmet.
With other WAFL Clubs lining up for Kimberley talent, maybe we need to review the club zoning arrangements so that others don't miss out on opportunities!!!

AFL Dollars for WKFL
Yes well written. Totally agree. Bet you Claremont FC do not even have a mention of WKFL clubs on their promotion boards at the club. Kimberley should be open zoning unless it is Hawthorn FC. Anyway bet you Claremont FC do not even know who our CEO is, who won the flag this year and who the head shrink is for West Kimberley, or who our teams are.

Low Flying Wombat I'd say you're right on the money there, from what I've heard the Kimberley House is an absolute joke, apparentley it's more of a Party House when it should be educating the boys in proper life skills so they can succeed. I don't think Claremont deserve to have the WHOLE Kimberley as their zone, it should just be an open region where any of the 9 WAFL clubs can find talent.

Re: AFL Dollars For Kimberley Football
Right you are LF Wombat, Claremont would have no idea of what exists in the Kimberley outside of our boys making them some dollars via being drafted. Given the number of Aboriginal boys coming from the kimberley zone, they don't even have an Aboriginal Liaison Officer.
They don't send any representatives to our GF's or Presentation nights and are lucky to have Claudius up here or they'd be in a real bad state.
The Kimberley should collectively take ownership and demand Claremont and the AFL for that matter do more for the Kimberley or else dissolve the zoning arrangements so that Clubs that truly do want our kids can step forward unimpeded and invest in them.

Re: AFL Dollars For Kimberley Football
Agree totally with all...Let the kimberley be open zoning. That way if the clubs really want to get some fellas down they can offer them services ie accommodation, jobs, apprenticeships etc...
Open slather would see more getting offered to them and hence more assisstance to the boys who go down...
Where as now there is one house for up to 60 potential boys and not to mention 10 odd playing spots for the 60 odd potential boys...Atleast with open zoning there would be more offers, more opportunities and it wouldnt all be Claremonts pickings of which we can already see now the partnership with what they assisst with and offer to the boys isnt going too well...
Instead of letting claremont keep hold, keep it all to themselves and prosper, it is a big enough area to be shared out to all clubs so they all get a chance at improving the fellas lifes instead of potentially destroying them by either cutting them cause they arent superstar material or making them move all the way to perth, uproot their lifes just to be mucked around with in Perth...
Some boys have gone down only to be told by claremont their services arent required. They could start on another teams lists however then it becomes the politically correct and they want something out of it...They Dont really want to know players unless they are draft material!
They have had years, and made thousands out of the Kimberley and yet still no improvements...Like you say...What do they even know about our Kimberley leagues??? They know what ever Claudius can tell them cause he is their only assett here working his AS#$% off...
