Have heard that the bulls have been recruiting heavily. Not sure how the rest are fairing. How have clubs been going numbers wise at training? Have spotted the bulls training a few times and they had around the 20-25 mark, not bad for this time of year. Early prediction would have Saints go back to back, although teams can make up ground pretty quickly with the right players.

Bulls have looked good for this time of year! good numbers and look to have recruited well with a few new quality players. (victorians im told)
saints back to back chances may take a blow if claremont get their hands on the a few of their premiership stars who are trying to brake into the colts side down there. as for towns, beach and bombers pretty standard numbers for this time of year and no new gun recruits as yet.

PS could someone in a position to do so put a 2011 wkfl fixture up on this site if possible.

cheers Bruce M

Dropped in to watch Towns and Bombers train during the week. Bombers had about 10 fellas there while Towns had about 30. Also heard Towns could be getting Tim Rickta back. Who are the players the Saints could be losing? Have heard Tristram Pigrams name mentioned but thats all.

Yeah have heard Towns have quite a few new players. Not sure if AFL listed player is true, but if is and Rickta is back they could be an improver. Hadn't heard about the full forward leaving though. Anybody got any info about Bulls intra club at the weekend. How did Melbourne players look?

Very quiet in here. Surely there is more news on the recruitment front than has been posted in here. Keep hearing Towns and Bulls to be big improvers this year. Lets get some top 4 predictions going hey.... Saints, Bombers, Beach and either Bulls or Towns. Of course Bidgy and Looma are capable of having a side challenge for top 4, but until pre season carnival starts will go with that.

I think the Ex-AFL player at Towns being mentioned is Hoffy from Derby - who was on the Eagles list many moons ago, and is now back at Towns Heard Richter is coming back, they've got a player from Coburgh in the VFL and a couple of Ex-WAFLites heading up (Broomers), so Towns may be on the up (Richter and Wardy back - best midfielder and best ruckman in the comp)
Bulls have had heaps of numbers at training, only the one intra-club scratch match so not much to go on, although there's supposed to be a game on this weekend, they surely couldnt be worse than last season
Beach i've heard numbers are increasing and they're firing and ready to go - Claudius as coach this year will have a big impact on the playing group
Bombers have had low numbers at training but thats usual for this time of the year, cant judge them until the first game
Derby have had plenty of numbers and will be travelling to Broome in a couple of weeks to take on Bulls in a scratchy
Saints have really struggled with numbers at training, to the point where the rumour is that Bourkey has resigned as Coach? Can anyone confirm this??
Bidgy and Looma havent head anything

Apparently Bourkey resigned yesterday from Saints. Struggling dealing with 7 or 8 players at training, they could be in real trouble but anything could happen. Remember they are the reigning Premiers so don't write them off just yet.

Yes Townies have had good numbers up around the 25 - 30 mark as have Bulls. Not sure about Richter but the money is no he won't be back with Townies this year.

Bombers numbers average for this time of year, maybe 10 - 12 from what I've seen.
Derby has reportedly had good numbers that you would expect from a one team town, apparently they have big wraps on their new coach so they may surprise a few teams early on. Better off without Hoff in my opinion. Towns may regret taking him and his mouth on !!!

Cable Beach numbers also good although a new look line up with a few old heads not going around again and quite a few young, really yound guys. Always strong and will be again this year. Claudius as coach is a big plus

Bulls numbers better then all others, althought the quality we will have to wait and see. Apparently they have recruited very well and have added some big bodies as well as 5 or 6 Victorians that are supposedly OK. Watched them train last week and they are a new look team from last year.

Should be a great WKFL season, looking forward to some big upsets throughout the year.

My top 4 would be Saints, Beach, Bulls and Derby

Tim Richter (IS PLAYING FOR TOWNS IN 2011) so all u lil smelly wanabe broome football maggots who tink u kno the game dat happened in broome u beta look out. As for townies losing there star full forward?????????????????????????? yet to hear who this mystery man is but apparently its matt THE KING jordinson. Some say when he gets the ball magic happens............ HE IS A MAGICIAN.

FACT: The man the myth the legend BURKIE has exited the WKFL arena. What has happened to the team of 2010???????????
Big improver of the year in the early stages of preseason training is mark wrigley some say that he has been bench pressing 130kgs plus???
Big hypes r going around afta this soldier had a injury disrupted 2010 some say with a bit of a sniff he could turn a few games on there head.

Had the chance to pop down and view the bulls v beach game earlier today. Bulls were sensational! expect bright things from this club on the rise for 2011 mayb this is the year that the bull flys high. Cable Beach looked very average will b lucky to get a sniff at glory this year let alone finals.

Towns football club r set to b big improvers in 2011 if they can keep ahold of the fitzy boys. Rumour has is that these firey young chaps will b spending most of there time trying to crack into the big league............. They have the potential but will there firey imagination get the better of them down at claremont.

Well well doesn't season 2011 look to be interesting now. Saints coach quitting, Bulls smashing beach in a practice match and the return of a former league medallist to Towns. It seems a few pundits are now getting interested in the season which is fast approaching.
Didn't get to see the Bulls on the weekend but spoke to a few of the boys and it's fair to say they were pretty happy with themselves after having a win against a finalist from last year.

Speaking of new players I heard that Jonno Cox is playing for Bombers this year.. From what i've heard he was a gun playing up in Kununarra. Should be interesting with him playing along side his brother Davo. They'll be 2 people to watch when they get going.

There is alot of talk about Timmy R coming back has that been confirmed yet?

Saints ... Any word if the have a coach yet or even a team?

looks like my info was wrong and Richter is playing for Towns. That will be good for the competition and hopefully boost Townies to knock off a few of the so called top sides. An insider from Towns reckons that Richter will be paid a few hundred dollars a game by Towns, has anyone else heard this ? Does the WKFL allow players to be paid ?

I can confirm 100% that Richter will be back at Towns this season. Do you just make this sh1t up or what chuck? Would love to know who your insider is at Towns, if in fact you have one. There is no way we are paying any players at Towns and that includes Dinga. There may be a club thats paying players this year but it aint us. We also will be playing a couple of half games against the Bombers and Bidgy this weekend.

Not sure if the league "allows" clubs to pay players, but my first thought is how do we stop them. The league might not encourage it but can't see what they can do about it. In the case of the bulls, they needed to do something. Not winning a game for 2 years makes it hard to attract new players so they have had to look elsewhere. Still not sure if they are paying players anyway. Prob just a Broomer. Good on them if they are I reckon as it will obviously make them more competitive.

Yeah don't reckon the league can do anything about paid players. Personally don't like it but what can you do. What I will say is that the paid players would want to perform. Players can get pretty frustrated if so-and-so gets 200 bucks and doesn't contribute come game day.

The bulls players are probably just happy to be playing in a competitive side again and could't give a toss who gets paid. Once the wins start to stack up no one will care.

Pretty scrappy really. For us it was good to finish with a bit of run in both games. Was pretty happy with our young players as well as a few of our recruits. We've got a bit to work on before the carnival now but should welcome back probably 5 starting 18 players before then. Bombers will be good again this year and Bidgy showed enough, especially early against us, to say they will improve on last year.

Towns looked to be lacking in height which did show a bit with the big bidgy forward kicking a few early. The Bombers and bidgy both pretty quick too which towns struggled with. Think towns won both games though but not sure.

Well its nearly time for some real stuff and a chance for a premiership, even if its a pre season one. After watching the bulls demoliton of Derby they would have to be favorites. They've recruited well and had a good start to the year. I reckon they will beat Bombers in the final.

mate if u think bulls will win the preseason carnival your of your head they have won some scratchies against under strength teams. games are 2 short halves so fitness isnt realy an issue. towns look twice as good as bulls on the traing track skills wise they have plenty of class. bulls may be competative and win a game or to but they will not match it with towns, beach and bombers not enough quality players. im tipping towns to beat beach in the final and little dinga to win player of the carnival.

Jusr having an opinion delicious thats all. Have seen all teams play except saints and looma this pre season and bulls have some good tall players who could do some damage. They will also be fit after a long pre season. With teams having to play 3 games on saturday fitness will come into it.

Well turns out Delicious and Footyfan were half right each - Bombers v Towns final with Bombers having a bit too much run in the end. No. 6 for Towns (name anyone?) getting sent off definitely didn't help Towns as he was a standout for them right through the Carnival, but both teams look very good and look likely to be strong this season. Cable Beach had a lot out by the looks of it - their midfield were playing with Bardi again so will be better in round 1, Bulls let teams in early and werent able to peg them back in the short format, only saw the one game of Saints but they looked competitive after all the dramas pre-season and what I saw of Bidgy shows they have plenty of run yet again and looking forward to seeing them and Looma square off.
Congrats to Jamie Stewart from Bulls for winning the Donnelly Medal - played solid, hard tough footy right through the 4 games, would have been a toss up between him, Jappo from Bombers and No. 6 from Towns i reckon from the games that i saw.
