townies will finish top 2. they had about 4 or 5 good players out as well as joe sara going down early against beach on the wkd so i think towns can still improve.the falcons didnt play well but still got the points so just shows the depth. not sure if beach were missing any players.

I think Beach were missing about 6 players of their starting 18. Most notably the best Full back in the comp who has only had 1 goal kicked on him all year. So that really hurt them with big Dusty kicking a bag...captain Micky Albert also went down to injury 30 seconds in and didnt play for the rest of the game which was a huge blow for Beach... I heard at one stage Beach only had 2 fit guys on the bench and ended up copping 4 or 5 injuries out of the Townies game.

No excuses but as Beach played really dumb footy in what was a classic, pressure packed hard fought close contest between the two GF sides. the beach hadnt experienced a game like that for almost a season and a half so maybe they werent used to it and taken a bit by suprise. Full credit to Townies who played their best game of team footy in a while & young Kayne stack is a dynamo!!!

I expect Beach to improve as they have now been given a wake up call and with the inclusion of their missing players they shoud definitely challenge hard for top spot.

interesting reading wc. being new to town/west kimberly football, i dont know much about other sides or players in the comp. should be a very good contest when towns and beach square off next. one thing you may be able to help me with wc is why/how an opposition coach can offer players from rival clubs game time and games, when they cant get a gig at the team they are with now. how can a player change teams mid week without even a clearance. case and point being the cable beach coach enticing 2 young townies players to switch clubs. these blokes will get no more a go at beach than with towns. i could understand if one of the clubs struggling with depth was doing this but not beach. kane is going along alright. i think he is 17 so he has a bright future in football. once kane gets enough confidence to demand the ball instead of hoping players see him he will be much better. is a very good player now and has a bit of x factor about him.
very strong rumour that towns have another player from vic. this guy is about 6foot 4 or 5 and plays chb. very good player in major league in vic.

Im pretty sure neither were enticed. I presume The player in mind your referring to who changed mid week was just annoyed he wasnt getting game time at Townies.

And If you saw on the weekend the player actually got game time and contributed well to the Beach side...

Neither of the Towns recruits were enticed to play for Cable Beach. they came because they thought theyd get more game time. And more game time they have been getting. And as you may have seen throughout the season so far the first few that did switch are all starting 18 players.

Its Maybe a problem that Towns need to address if it sees them losing good young players becasue they arent happy. thats got nothing to do with Cable Beach. because actually giving them a go has seen them all show they are extremely talented and capable players...

Im sure There was nothing under the table that happened in the process of beach getting these players. They simply wanted game time like any other player and any team would be stupid to knock them back. And game time is now what they are getting...

And if you look around it actually happens throughout the Teams in Broome. That is Broome footy...Unfortunately Players chop and change each year to get more game time or dissapointingly to follow glory...

we must be talking about different players. one guy who left cant even kick the thing so to say he is a starting 18 player is a bit rich. the young fella who left after the towns v beach game for not getting a run, is not a starting 18 player. he has some potential dont get me wrong. i just dont think with the depth towns have at the moment that he could expect a whole lot more than he was given. from what i am led to believe the beach have just as much depth so thats why the move is puzzling. when it comes to the business end of the year, and the games are tight, i wonder if they will receive the game time then. to my knowledge the players never even spoke to the coach about the lack of game time. i have been told about broome footy and how players chase flags but what i dont understand is why the league dont try to stem the flow a bit by having clearances. is there a rule that says after playing x amount of games or after x date you cant change clubs?

Yeah i think by June 30th you can not clear to another team.

I agree with what you are saying actually. The first guy to move a few weeks back you are correct. He played a game and most probably will not get another game for the season. I am also dumbfounded on why he would want to move to the Beach because if he cant get a game at towns then he definitely wouldnt get a game with Beach. No Disrespect in typing that. But obvoisuly Beach hold Towns in high regard and if he isnt good enough for Towns then obviously he aint too good at all. I think he moved more to be with his mate and also for the socialism.

The club does have an open door policy but which means they would never knock anyone back unless they were seriously a detriment to the club in that they were rifting with players already at the club. Even then that would have to be a pretty serious issue to knock players back.

You are probably correct again in that The player who moved after the Towns vs Beach game probably will struggle to keep a regualr spot in the side this year. However he will get games here and there and hopefully this develops him into being a full time player in the future. And whos to say actually given a chance he wont dominate and become a full time player alot quicker.

Im sure he was made well aware of that when he made the move and im even more sure that he was told he would have to train for a minimum of 2 weeks before he was even considered for selection. I think if it wasnt for the present 6-8 injuries and the few players away he wouldnt have played on the weekend just gone and he was well aware of that.

The starting 18 players i was referring to were the 3 that moved in the off season. These 3 were also all good mates with the fella in question which is probably another reason he made the move. He was also training with the Beach in the Preseason as well.

anyone see kane stack's mark on saturday. awesome mark.
well we are half way through the season and i think we can safely say the top 2 will be as is at seasons end. as for the 3rd spot i think that saints prob get that although i did note on saturday that the boys didnt really rate the saints at all and expected a tougher game. 4th spot is not as easy to predict even at this stage. did anyone else see the saints skipper walk off the ground on sat?

Who is the Saints skipper?

Is it Josh Sib (No.23)??? If so he stormed off the ground arguing in the Beach v Saints game too...Not what you want from your captain.

Didnt see Stackies mark but he dominated that game. thought sainters would have put up bit more of a fight but. Not literally! which is probably there downfall on saturday worrying too much about roughing blokes up.

They still have their supreme midfield from their premierships a few years back in Michael, lloyd, Waylon & Nathan Pigram. they are all damaging players on their day. And the addition of Lee Till who is definitely out of shape but could be up there in the best 5 in the comp if he was fit. It was a suprise to see them look so off their game on Saturday. maybe a big Friday night occurred?

But Towns were definitely a miles ahead of them...

I thought Bulls were back on the rise too...Apparently they lost to Bombers by 1 point.

i saw about a quarter of the bulls game on the weekend and they looked a bit better than when we played them last. not much to go on i know but they ended up winning i think so they must have gone on with it. towns will have a few players returning from injury/work to push for selection this week so look for them so get stronger. beach after having the bye prob get a few back too. how are other clubs going with injuries? tim richter from towns would have to be a smokey for the wkdl league medal. any other suggestions/

Yeah. Bulls are definitely starting to find some momentum and understanding each other as a team alot better by the looks of their last few games (except the bombers game but it was 2 points which could come in handy season end).

Beach get a few back from injury but i think they lose about 7 down to perth for the country week and Kimberley spirit carnivals. Which is A heap of their pace too.

I reckon Bouta is up there for league medal this year. he's the most dominant ruckman in the comp at the moment and his work ethic is madness. Umpy's would be salivating over him! Cal Tolentino would be polling well too with his big bags of goals.

Claudius and Sonny Dann have dominated for Beach so far but both will miss about 4 games in the coming weeks due to WAFL & State team committments so that will hurt their prospects. You would expect Neil Marshall to start raking in some votes too as he looks like he's now playing out of the middle and instead of just dominating up forward dominating around the ground. So he could be one to watch. Then again wouldnt write off Jo Dann to go Back to back League medals as he looks set for a monster second half of the season.

You would expect Tristram Pigram from Saints and maybe Jeff Johnstone & young Reece Moore from bulls to get a bit of attention from the umps too. If Looma can win enough games Lyle buck would have to be their favourite.

I noticed that Towns lost on the weekend to Emus must say didn’t see that one coming seeing Towns good form and a lot of talk of them doing what Beach did last year and going through the season undefeated, must have taken the Bidgy boys a bit to lightly, be interesting to see if Bidgy can keep the wins coming and give the top four a real shake, didn’t catch the other games on the weekend but seeing from the results they looked bit one sided with big wins to the Beach and Saints

towns were very ordinary last week. to bidgy's credit they never dropped off and once they got a sniff they almost grew another leg. the revolving door at the selection table looks set to continue for this weeks game against bombers. towns wont have it all their own way as bombers have also improved since our last meeting.

I work with 2 bulls players and they are very confinedent for this weeks games againts towns. towns have shown how bad they can choke and they must be a bit scared of the bulls physical game. Be interesting to watch!

That is the funniest thing i heard Joel. Bulls do not have a physical game anymore all these big fellas playing for them and yet they arent even 1/10th as physical as they use to be. From what i heard they talked it up in the change rooms before their game against the Beach about being physical & hitting the Beach Hard. Then ran out there and wouldnt even challenge at contests. 4 Bulls Blokes around the ball letting Beach players just go through as they please and pick it up They didint even look like they wanted it, Now is that physical?. Jo JO Dann had about 3 players tag him and i reckon he ended up with the most possessions he's had all year...He mustve got into the high 40's.

NOw by the looks of it Beach isnt really a physical side, they rely heavily on their skill, pace & Fitness. And for them to be more physical than the so called physical Bulls. That goes to show what levels their physicality are at. TOWNS will drub them by close to 100 points. Beach probably would have done the same if they kicked straight.

Bulls seem to have a huge intimidating side this year and talk it up a fair bit. But judging by how things are going this year thats all they seem to do is talk the talk and no walk the walk!

bulls physical. what a joke. i think most of the so called physicality from the bulls comes from their coach. got to listen to part of the bulls 3/4 time huddle on sat and can say the coach is a meathead. it got better. his speech when doing their awards at the bowling club was shameful from a supposed leader of their club. talked to some bulls players who confirmed that they get pretty embarrassed by his antics as well. other than that it was a pretty ordinary game i thought. towns first and last q were good with some ordinary footy in between. big test comes this week.

Hear hear Hawkers. Bulls coach is a serious Meaty by the sounds of it... Doesn't seem to be paying off the way the club would like however...

Beach & Towns this week! in what is almost certain to be the GF preview...Unless one of them faulters to the Saints who look to be the the most serious challenger with their premium midfiled of pigram, pigram, pigram, pigram & Till. They are all guns...Winner pencils in top spot for the year and is pretty much guaranteed the minor premiership. Beach have been doing pretty well lately considering they have only had enough blokes to field 21 for the last 2 games. And they look to have been without about 8 of their big guns... they look to be far from their best. Towns seem to be missing a few too who would have to be back for the big game you would think...It will be a ripper...

Who will stop Kal Tollo and Richter. A tough task. Then again who will stop Marshall and Joey Dann. After Dann's performances the last few weeks hes gotta be paying even money to take out the league B&F!

Both teams have their strengths and weaknesses so it will be an absolute rip snorter...Should be a sell out with standing room only!!!!!!!!!!!!

Saints probably had a heap out. beach didnt even have enough to field a full side when they played them. towns had a few out too. But Who cares who is injured its your depth that you then have to prove...

Sorry no fair go. Bulls will be lucky to make the finals this year...And If bombers play as good as they did against Beach, Bulls may see themselves get a 50 point or more hiding from them too...

Wasnt really talking Saints up just saying they have an awesome midfield and are the next best behind Beach & Towns which is just stating the obvious... and if they play BUlls again in a final they will smash them!

Going by other post and the games from the past 2 weeks from the Bulls I think they have shown total lack of respect to there opposition in Beach & Towns who are quality sides and who are the best two teams in the comp as we speak and were so last year, and to go on and say there a much physical team and think there going to be push overs is funny and has cost them with two big loses in a row, and that goes to show that tough talk in the change rooms or around town doesn’t count for nothing if you count back it up.

And would haft to agree with you there wc this week game between Towns & Beach should be a cracker got to get down there early to get a seat, you would also haft to keep an eye on Bidgy’s form I think there sneaking a bit under the radar at the moment and with the emotional win for Wayne Edgar’s 400th could set them up for a strong run home.

I Agree they had that game wrapped up. Having a shot at goal to go 9 points up then an undiscipline act results in no shot on goal, 50m and direct shot on goal for towns with 4 mins to go. Game over!

Great game of footy though. Ripper. Towns well deserved winners but Beach have to be dissapointed with their last quarter. Who is the fella that played on kal tollo. He wore him like a glove. That was the least impact he'd had on a game all year...

Saints are a huge threat to either of the top 2 sides. their midfield is gathering momentum at the right time. I dont know who will stop Neil Marshall but. he kicked 8 goals against them last time and set up about 5.

It should be a reasonably close game. I'd still tip Beach by 3 or 4 goals but...

just a question go west coast. if you were 9 points up then towns kicked a goal through an undisciplined act, wouldnt you still be 3 points ahead? bit early for game over. you are right though with 10 minutes to go the beach did look like winning. i thought it was a pretty scrappy game really with plenty of turnovers. tollo was once again pretty well held although he did kick a goal late which either put us in front or gave us some space. by the way gwc i think we have discussed the undisciplined player in question earlier in the thread. wouldnt think the coach would have been happy with the effort to give away the penalty. but to react to the towns bench (who were giving him a bit on his way off) the way he did showed he either didnt understand what hed just done to his team, or he didnt care.
